Gently drawn floral motifs and arabesques fill the field in the soft Peshawar manner, giving this hand-knotted transitional rug a graceful, muted decorative presence well suited to larger rooms. A serene taupe and charcoal-gray field is framed by a wide ivory border, with gentle tan, sage, and earth-toned accents drifting throughout in a palette built entirely on restraint. Hand tied from soft wool over a durable cotton warp, the rug offers cosy texture and enduring quality across living rooms, dining areas, bedrooms, and other frequently used spaces. Slight tonal shifts and changes in pile direction are inherent to handwork, and they give the surface a movement and depth that a machine-made rug lacks. Its wide ivory border helps a generously sized rug feel lighter than its footprint suggests.

Story Behind the Art: Hand-knotted rugs are Pakistan's second-largest cottage and small industry that began as early as the 11th century under the Mughal rule. The craftsmen have the capacity to produce any type of rug using all the popular motifs of guls, medallions, paisleys (botehs), traceries, and geometric designs in various combinations. While the "stone washes" are used to fade and soften colors, the Peshawar style is characterized by a thinly sheered pile, large print designs, and most predominantly, their antique ivory and sometimes golden tones.
