Story Behind the Art: Agra rugs are closely tied to the flowering of carpet weaving in India during the Mughal period, when court-supported workshops encouraged increasingly refined approaches to pattern, material, and color. Early designs absorbed strong Persian influences, yet Indian weavers gradually developed their own visual vocabulary through tighter knotting, smooth wool, rich coloration, and more naturalistic floral imagery.
