By the 1970s, Tibetan rugs had earned worldwide acclaim, with Nepalese artisans working alongside Tibetan refugees to preserve and advance this ancient craft. Distinguished by the unique slit-loop weaving method known as the Tibetan knot, these rugs are prized for their soft, dense pile and luxurious texture. Today, Tibetan, Nepalese, and Indo-Tibetan rugs continue to evolve, uniting reinterpreted traditional patterns—such as florals and snow lions—with contemporary designs that celebrate both heritage and modern artistry.
