Story Behind the Art:Pak Persian rugs are a cornerstone of Pakistan’s hand-knotted rug industry, which dates back to the 11th century under Mughal rule. Pakistani weavers are renowned for their ability to reproduce classic Persian motifs such as guls, medallions, paisleys, traceries, and geometric designs. Pak Persian rugs are especially valued for their high knot density, often reaching 16×18 knots per inch, resulting in 288–300 KPSI construction. Initially developed to fill the market gap when Iranian exports declined in the 1970s, these rugs remain popular today for their durability, refined craftsmanship, and suitability for high-traffic areas.
